The 4th Oesophageal and Stomach Cancer Awareness Week ran from Monday 30th April through to Sunday 6th May. We again initiated a major publicity drive using local media including television and radio, advertising in public places, stands at the RVI and Freeman Hospitals in Newcastle, merchandise and two showcase events.
The awareness week ended with an abseil from the roof of the Malmaison Hotel on Newcastle's Quayside took place on Sunday 6th May.
This was a tremendous occasion and provided not only publicity and sponsorship money, but also a hugely enjoyable day for those abseiling and those who came to watch. The above article appeared the following day in The Journal newspaper. Our thanks go out to all those brave individuals who took the leap and equally to those who came along to provide much needed support http://www.oesophagoose.org/apps/photos/.
The Oesophagoose Ball is on Saturday 2nd June has had to be cancelled. We apologise to everyone who had been intending to come to the event and those who had generously donated items for the auction. One of our supporters is hosting their own Diamond Jubilee Celebration event: Garden Kitchen, Eldon Garden http://www.gardenkitchennewcastle.com. Check out their facebook page.
